Australia Day. 26th January. Our Club participated in the celebrations with displays at Montville and at the Maleny Showgrounds.
It was an early start for both venues, with much interest shown in our vehicles. Overall, it was a good morning for the club to present our vehicles to the public, with fifteen participating.

Caboolture Aero Museum. 5th February. The day of a Club Run to Hanger 101 at Caboolture Airfield. It was well-attended and the weather was moist. An interesting route to Hanger 101 was mostly traffic-free and morning tea was had at the venue. We were greeted by staff and split into two groups to be shown around.
The hanger had a lovely collection of older aircraft including a Harvard, DE Havilland Moth. Everywhere was stacked with associated artefacts, all of which was most interesting. They provided seating for our group and some of us took advantage of this. Lunch was had locally by most of the attendees.

Hell Town Hotrods. 4th March. On a sunny morning we set out through Kenilworth for a visit to Hell Town Hot Rods establishment. Morning tea was at the million dollar loo on the banks of the Mary River. It is supposed to look like a fishing basket, someone had a good imagination and now full pockets.
The drive over the mountain and through the woods to Gympie was uneventful and scenic, an enjoyable morning drive. We had lunch at Hell Town Hotrods Cafe, my dear driver and I were happy with the service and the meal. There were lots of little things to look at and a 3 window coupe in the process of being welded up. After much lunching and talking, we made our way home.
A pleasant days drive with good people, again.

Donnebrook Run 22nd July. This run was cancelled due to inclement weather. It was decided to undertake a short morning run to Peachester and return via Commissioners Flat Rd. and Bellthorpe.

...........................................................

MCHS Promotion 30th July. Members supplied eight vehicles for a video of the Historical Village activities, organised by the SCRC as part of a promotion of the Hinterland region.

Bongaree Run 5th August. Club members met at the clubhouse on a beautiful winter's day on Wednesday 5th August 2020. At the appointed time we set off under the able leadership of Des Donnan. Des led us on a series of back roads until we arrived at our morning tea stop, where we were invited to inspect several restored cars and motorbikes. This was all very interesting, but finally Des asked the two gentlemen running the place 'what do you actually do here'.

When at last we left this unique display we crossed the bridge to Bribie Island and headed towards Bongaree at the southern end of the Island. There is a small museum here called the Bongaree Museum. It is run by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and is devoted to the discovery and history of Bribie Island. Although small, we found this museum to be interesting, perhaps because we are all familiar with Bribie Is. We were impressed with efficiency of the museum staff, who had a clipboard and pencil ready for each of us to enter our details. From the museum the view is across Moreton Bay towards the mainland. I commented to a staff member what a lovely work place she had and she replied that other Council employees were quite envious.

Finally, it was time to enjoy our BYO lunch in the shade of trees outside the museum, and then it was time to head for home. We learned that they run a very successful business repairing machinery that has electronic components such as petrol and diesel pumps at petrol stations, agricultural machinery such as seeding drills and so on. Machinery needing repair is sent to them from all over Australia, they repair it and then it is returned. Notes by John L.

Montville/Imbil 2nd September. The Fossils Looking at Fossils Rally. With a start-up of 16 cars and the promise of a good rally, we headed off to Montville, Serge leading the way. Obviously our first stop was for a good coffee and maybe a treat or two from the Mountain Bean Cafe. After much chin wagging, most of us intrepid hikers strolled up to the top end of town to the Crystal and Fossil Emporium.
Our host from the Emporium was keen to show us around his collection of treasures and crystals and explained the history and age of the fossils. Another leisurely stroll down to our cars, parked behind the shops and we were off again, driving down the Range through Mapleton, Yandina, North Arm and then we headed west towards the tidy country town of Imbil for lunch.
Don had turned off early, so we thought he either knew a short cut or had abandoned us. When questioned about this foray, Don replied that 'he was only going the way he was told we were all to take'. Apparently the rest of the rally drivers hadn't clearly heard those instructions! Never mind, we found Imbil and Don. Mark Taxis had joined us halfway along the rally route, so we had quite a few cars to try to park up. Verona was waiting for us in one of the town's gazebos set up in the wide grassed median strip in the centre of town.
We had a few people walk up to have a good look at our cars and take photos of them. We all enjoyed the day out and the weather was perfect for us. Thank you Serge for organising this rally.

Wappa Dam 20th September. Sixteen members with ten vehicles turned out for this pleasant day, firstly to Maroochy Botanic Gardens for smoko, then on the Wappa Dam for a byo luncheon. This was a relaxing location for our event with lots of birdlife on the water. Thanks to leader Bob.

Mount Mee 7th October. Twenty seven members in fifteen vehicles undertook a round trip of approximately 220 km. to the Mt. Mee National Park. The route was via Bald Knob Rd. then through Woodford and the D'Aguilar Hwy. The morning tea stop was the Pitstop Cafe to embrace the spectacular view across the Samford Valley. Next on to "The Gantry" picnic area, then back towards home for a picnic lunchon at Cruice Park near Woodford, highlighted by another serving of Mary's birthday cake.
Weather was perfect and all members enjoyed the exhilarating driving conditions of this scenic area. Thanks to Rod for organising and leading the group.

Montville 18th October. Member Serge D. entertained eighteen members at his Montville home to view his collections of Citroen vehicles and Clocks. He provided an interesting insight into the history of the marque and the provenance of his particular collection and of his in depth knowledge of horology. Thank you Serge for your hospitality.

Open Day 14th November. After a four month delay due to COVID19, our much anticipated 'Grand Open Day' finally transpired.
The event was held in the grounds of the Maleny Historical Society Village and was also hosted by the Historical Society, and the Maleny Men's Shed. Weather was favourable, and an estimated 550 vehicles passed through the gates, which kept our team busy throughout the day monitoring traffic flow and parking.
For the Car Show, 74 veteran/vintage/classic vehicles and 20 vintage motorcycles were on display, creating much interest for spectators. The monster garage sale attracted much patronage and there were popular displays at the Men's Shed and the Historical Village. Altogether the day was a promotional and financial success for all concerned. The organising committee in particular and all who assisted deserve a big thank you.
